I’m excited that my book, The Faces of Pain is finally finished!

My hope is that the conversation around chronic pain and the effects it has on our brains, our relationships, our emotions and our future will evolve into something really honoring to the sufferer as well as their families and loved ones.

When I wrote the book I must admit, I wanted to include all the research, all the trials…you know, all of it. I have a growth mindset and have spent many hours of reading, watching and listening to various studies, conferences and opinions. That’s my jam; to always add to what I’ve learned, and share it with others over time. But as I listened to direction from God, He was clear. Just share your story.

When it comes down to chronic pain, that’s all that matters are your own story and how strongly you hold to how it’s arranging your life. Because, it really arranges it sometimes doesn’t it?! Sometimes radically changes things.

What if (even if there is no cure) you could be in community with people who not only understand but can hold a space of empathy, hope and bravery for you until you have one for yourself! What if, as you reached out for encouragement you could find safety in sharing and ZERO judgement? Along with those who are believing for, praying and agreeing for your healing, for your needs, your release of pain or maybe your mind-numbing fatigue?

As we support one another in this way, the way we move forward can be different. Our brain responds differently. We learn those things that may have really set us off and broken connection and choose a powerful to relate. New chapters are added to our story. Our thoughts of mistrust, feeling misunderstood or disconnected… turn to love and acceptance! And with God’s help, healing inside and out.

This is the opportunity to come out of isolation if that’s where you are. It’s a place where you can tell your story. Tell us where it really hurts. Ask the deeper questions. Give those thoughts, feelings and belief’s a place to be healed.

I think you’ll feel welcome. I pray you’ll be changed. I believe you’ll be loved well, as we learn more about that.

So today tell me, where you hurt? Is it your body or your heart…maybe both?
